On Friday December 9th, the Mercy Foundation announced that the recipient of this year annual award for Social Justice was People of the Way - we had been nominated by the Perth Archdiocesan Catholic Social Justice Council.


The citation for the award reads:
The award is made in recognition of their work in the promotion of the spirituality of active nonviolence through education, formation, networking, social action, prayers and retreats.In particular the award recognises the effectiveness of work with other groups, organisations and institutions in social transformation activities, in the work of penal reform, Alternative to Violence programmes, Leviticus Loans and Aboriginal Reconciliation


Thanks for the affirmation and belief that what we're about and how we go about it is valued by the wider community - we'll stay on the journey, gathering other 'people on the way'....
